I used to be that person who either didn't even look at the receipt when the cashier handed it to me, before I wadded it up and trashed it, or I wouldn't even bother to get it at all. Now, I always make sure to not only get it, but to check it. Think about it-- in a store with thousands of products that are constantly changing in price, there's bound to be an occasional error. However, I submit it happens more than just occasionally!
The last two times I've been in Kroger, the price on an item has been wrong. I'm not Kroger bashing, because this happens in every store around the country (well, globe actually, if they're using a computer system). Here's where it gets good though. Kroger's policy (in this region, anyway) is if the price at the register (or on your receipt) is different than the listed/posted amount, you get the item for FREE!
Two times ago, the ground beef I purchased rang up wrong and the last time, it was 3 packs of sandwich cheese.
In all honesty, the computer system they use makes the final price on receipts hard to decipher, so if I ever have any doubts, I go straight to customer service to have them interpret for me. The time I purchased the ground beef and the price was wrong, I made it all the way to the car, but my total just seemed higher than I had anticipated. This, for me, is like an irritating splinter. If you don't even have a clue how much your total will be when you get to the register, you really should pay more attention.
Back to the errors: This was one of those days where I had to go to the store after a looong day at work and had battled the goats all the way through the store (click here if you're not sure what I'm talking about). I had all 4 of the young'uns with me, we had finally made it to the car, and they had just finished strapping themselves in their car seats. I wrestled with going back inside, just to have them decode the transaction at my expense. I finally mustered up my last bit of intestinal fortitude (after growling out loud and gnashing my teeth) and we went back inside. The result was $15 worth of ground beef for free, because the price was wrong at the register! Ca-ching! Check those receipts, people!
Last thing for the day: Are you an Air Wick plug-in fan? Did you know the Glade plug-ins fit in the Air Wick holders? Yup. Wanna hear something even better? If you go here, you can get a coupon for the Glade spring collection of products, many of which are either on sale or on clearance because they're "seasonal". Doesn't mean they can't be stashed away for future use! Save on, friends!

Way to go, Kroger! I had a situation once at Harris Teeter where a sale sign on a display was for a totally different product. I didn't even notice - just saw the sale price on a favorite product of mine and went to check out. When it was wrong at the register, they informed me of the error after looking into it. Ya know they didn't even offer to give me the "sale" price for their mistake of not taking down the sign? So, instead of losing $1 for a wrong sign, they lost $4 for not honoring their goof. Tisk tisk. :) I like Kroger's policy better! LOL
