Dollar For Dollar

Disclaimer: I ripped today's topic straight out of the mouth and brain of my BFF's hubby. Kudos to him for the idea!

We were visiting with friends the other day when my BFF's husbster brought up a very valid point. Have you noticed that at McDonald's you can order pancakes with sausage and pay more than if you ordered pancakes and a sausage & biscuit. You could take the sausage off the biscuit and essentially have the same meal... only you have a free biscuit to give away, throw away, or whatever-- and it's still cheaper!
Why do fast food places take advantage of us like that? Because they know we aren't paying attention!

Confession: I don't have the menu boards at all fast food joints memorized, so if you're behind me in the drive-thru, it's gonna be a minute... or five. I'm ordering for at least 5 people, two of which can't read menu boards in their entirety yet and the other two are unpredictable in their ordering, so I never (ever) assume what they want or I'll have full-blown drama for the next 3 days. And then there are all the options: burger-- 1, 2, or 3 patties (seriously? Does it also come with heart re-starting paddles or a trial size vial of nitroglycerin?), chicken-- grilled, fried, on a bun, in a wrap, etc. Okay, I'm getting away from the point.

They know that when you have a car like mine, full of 900 hungry, drama-laden children, & you are tore up about the guy honking behind you, you just order half the menu and pull up hoping to get out of the parking lot with 2 nuggets and half a fry for everyone... only for them to spill the ginormous dollar drink all over the back of the van... true story.

They know you aren't taking the time to logically add up the cost of everything individually versus in a "value" meal. Here's the point: add it up to make sure you are getting the best value for your money and save on, friends! :)

  1. Yes I want the medium sized meal with the large drink! If you make your meal a large which by the way only gives you a larger drink they charge you more, yet all the drinks are $1.00. I don't get it. Yes, I want the large drink with the kid's meal too.

I know you've posted about Kids eat free nights at certain places. Have you posted about Tuesday Chick Fil A family night? Each of them have different rules but the general rule of buy one adult meal gets you one free 4 ct. kids meal is true will all of them.
