Do You Know Nixle?

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Nixle... No wait... That's not how that goes!

Every family has one and my brother is the gadget and computer guru in our family. Not this girl. You'll never catch this chick saying I'm on the cutting edge of any kind of technology. I'm on Facebook, I tweet, and all that good stuff, but that's about where it stops.

Last year, my friend Tania (who is probably on the same techie level as me... well, she actually may be a smidge more techie) told me about Nixle. If you're familiar, I feel certain you're laughing, as I feel like I've just discovered 8-track tapes-- after everyone else has moved on to tapes and CDs (What do you mean MP3s are 'it' now?). If you're not familiar, let me divulge...

Nixle is a site where you sign up for free text and/or email updates on weather, traffic, or Amber alerts in your area. We live in one zip code, but worship, shop, and spend most of our time in another. No big deal! You just sign up for as many zip codes as necessary. I feel like I could be the local weather girl now! I get weather advisories days in advance. Hmmm... maybe my school district should make me in charge of calling off school for snow! Nah, we'd never go. :)
