Like they say on TV, "This is my biggest haul EVER"

Alright y'all, I know I've said before, you've got to be a die-hard coupon crazy, if'n you're gonna hang wit' me. In all seriousness, I've told you how my weekly stop at Publix usually happens on Wednesdays, because of the penny item. However, I've been known to scrounge up additional coupons over the weekend and go on Tuesday before the sale ends, then return on Wednesday for the new sale. Sometimes I go to the same store (because my favorite cashier is there) and sometimes I go to a different one, so I don't look like I'm a complete loon. If you have a nut allergy, you probably want to steer clear of me-- because I'm a NUT! :)

Back to Publix... Okay, so my MIL gave me a load of coupons over the weekend, that she's been saving for me. I went through them and it just so happens that several of them are for things that are still on sale. I coupled those with my $5 off a $30 purchase coupon (thanks to my mom & dad) and away I go. I walked in the store and saw these 2 women hovering over a wire basket, with a coupon rack beside them. I thought, "something's up and I'm about to be a part of it." I looked at the coupons, which were the same Publix ones I received in the paper. Then, one of the ladies turned to me and said, "did you get some of the coupons?". Naturally (You don't recognize me from Clippin' & Savin' fame??) She then said, "the one for Knorr Sides applies to these (in the basket) that are BOGO for $1.29. That makes them like 10 cents." Beat it, lady! In all seriousness, I really tried to be nice, when I helped her up off the floor, where I'd knocked her down all the while shouting, "outta my way!". :)

Then, just as I'm about to clear the shelf (well, okay, I'm not that crazy), I text my friend Kim, whom I've (finally) gotten on the coupon bandwagon, and tell her about my find. She says, "be sure to pick up the New York croutons that are 99 cents! With the doubled $0.50 coupon, they're FREE + a penny!". Woohoo!!

After also using my free coffee creamer coupon, because I registered on the International Delights website and some rain check deals for body wash, I was done. Okay, so here's my loot-- and in the words of Extreme Couponers, "this was my biggest haul EVER" (and just where exactly were the stinkin' cameras for this episode?? Gracious. I even went & had my hair did... Honestly, it was whipped back in a rubber band like a peeled onion because Kim and I had just finished exercising, but whatever. :)

My total out-of-pocket cost was $9.91. My total savings were an eye-popping $73.23. Here's the proof:

Do we need 30 bags of Knorr Sides? No, but they make great contributions to food banks!

Does it pay to make an extra stop at the store, during the week? I suppose that's a matter of opinion. However, if you're just as nutty as me, you might want to warn your friends with allergies to stand back, but keep on being a nut. In my opinion, it does pay.

Are you still paying full retail? Get with it! They are practically giving stuff away! Save on, friends!

  1. Yay! I did get to go last night and I got 10 Knorr Sides. I almost gave the person in front of me 4 coupons, but I'm glad I didn't because I needed those 4 bags to get my total up to $25 and get the gas gift card. My store didn't have any croutons left, but they are sale for awhile. So I'm about to get ready for today's run.
