Kickin' it at Kohl's

Ever heard the saying, "the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree"? Try as you might, you really can't deny it. We learn so many things from our parents and how we spend money is no exception. Growing up, my mom taught me a thing of two about stretching a dollar 'til it begs for mercy. Old habits die hard and that ol' girl is still at it, today!

A few days ago, we talked about shopping ahead and creating a gift stash or buying ahead for Christmas. We also talked about when buying for children, guesstimating their size in a year and sizing up. I completely realize that there are, unfortunately, times when it appears children have been drinking Miracle Grow laced milk and they may skip the size you buy at the end of a season for the following year. If that's the case, either consign them (we'll talk about consignment sales another time) or put them in your gift stash.

Kohl's is having a BIG end-of-winter sale right now and many things are marked down 60-70%. Mom went yesterday and bought ahead for the 5 grandchildren for Christmas 2011.
The total amount she spent was $130.54, but she saved $506.51.  The jeans alone were originally $22 a pair. As I said before, the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. When I see a good deal and take advantage of it, after getting home sometimes, I think, "you know, I probably should've stocked up a little more". That's exactly what Mom did. She went back to Kohl's today (after gettin' her praise on) and bought more jeans for my boys (woot woot!) to give to them for the next 2 years.
For some, this may sound completely crazy. Call it what you will, but she bought nearly 4 pairs of jeans for the original cost of 1 and in my opinion, that's not crazy at all. If your kids drink Miracle Grow (or at least it seems like they do), you might want to check out the deals at Kohl's & save bundles of moolah! :)
